Founded in 1981, Meyer-Haake has been serving the medical industry for over three decades with its innovative products. Initially, the company used to import products and resell them. However, soon Meyer-Haake started producing its own devices addressing the wound care, radiosurgery, smoke evacuation, anti-aging, and cosmetics segments. “We are a small company, but we have many outstanding products. We have a presence in approximately 60 countries all over the world,” mentions Heike Jordan, one of the two managing directors at Meyer-Haake.

All the products of the company are manufactured in Germany, specifically designed for doctors and beauty institutes. Two of the main products of the company are radioSURG^® 2200 and EPIGLU^® while the other three products are RF-ReFacing^®, smokeSTAR and BIO-CONE.

Making Great Waves in Medical Industry

With Meyer-Haake’s radioSURG^® 2200 , all cuts can be made easily with less pain for patients. Small to large bleedings can be treated. radioSURG^® 2200 is a single device for all surgical processes at less than ten percent of the price of a laser. “We can make an initial skin cut without any discoloration or burning the tissue, which is really unique. Healing is much faster since burns and other issues are avoided,” says Heike.

The significant features that distinguish radioSURG^® 2200 from its competitors are three Waveforms (filtered, lightly modulated, and half modulated); RF Frequency 2.2 MHz; adjustable coagulation time of 0.05-0.45 seconds or permanent; output power mono cut 100 Watt and switch from one output to another without touching the device. In addition, housing and membrane keypad are clear, and hygienic, easy to use, clean and disinfected; and can be used in conjunction with endoscopes. The device abides by the latest technical, hygienic and legal requirements. “radioSURG 2200 offers many unique features like allowing a doctor to record all aspects of the surgery. In case of a trial, when a patient goes to court accusing the doctor of wrongdoing, he can prove with radioSURG 2200 which process he followed during the surgery,” explains Heike.

Besides the radioSURG^® 2200, Meyer-Haake also offers EPIGLU^®, which allows doctors and surgeons to bond the cuts or wounds instead of stapling or sewing them. The unique features of the product are fast polymerization, user-friendly, long shelf life, and easy application with disposable pipettes. With EPIGLU^®, a patient can heal quickly without any infection. EPIGLU allows patients to follow their daily hygiene as they do not feel disturbed by wound closure. EPIGLU also detaches itself in eight to ten days and there is no need to visit the doctor repeatedly. EPIGLU does not hurt when applied nor when it comes off.

EPIGLU is approved by The Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA), which makes it usable in dental stream and gynecology department too. “We are cautious with our devices since we have a special responsibility in the medical device sector. If something goes wrong, there is always a human being involved. It is not just the financial loss. I am really proud of our products,” explains Heike.

Meyer-Haake is revolutionizing the field of anti-aging treatments by offering RF-ReFacing^®, which is for clients who are afraid of invasive treatments and also do not want Botox or other wrinkle injections. The characteristics that separate RF-ReFacing^® from conventional methods are: pain-free treatments without syringes and scalpels, no swelling, no loss of sensory stimuli, no disturbing visual skin changes, no hematomas, no hospital or hotel stay, relaxing, pleasant treatment, and no loss of work. The slight redness of the skin in the treated area disappears quickly. “We are also introducing a natural process that helps with lightening stretch marks. We have developed an excellent cosmetic line without any toxic substances, not only for treatments by dermatologists, but also for use at home,” mentions Heike.

Another revolutionary product of Meyer-Haake is smokeSTAR. It is purchased by medical practitioners who need protection from toxic gas caused due to high levels of energy in ultrasound, RF, HF, and laser surgery. While cutting and coagulating, depending on the method and device used, medical practitioners come in contact with different sized particles of 0.07 – 200 microns that are highly toxic. Due to its extremely quiet suction power, smokeSTAR can take away all the toxic smoke from the operating room.

The fifth Meyer-Haake product is BIO-CONE that helps in cone biopsies with fewer bleedings during surgeries, less rebleeding and less pain as well as examinations.

Heike gives an example of how one of the company’s products eased a woman’s life. “A woman, who was suffering from breast cancer, had one of her breasts amputated and reconstructed. The nipple and the areola were still missing. The surgeon took radioSURG 2200 and performed an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. With the eyelid skin flaps the areola was rebuilt. The nipple was reconstructed by an arrow plasty. Since the structure of the eye’s skin was similar to the breast tissue, the transplant looked natural. The skin near the eye looked natural since our device is extremely smooth and soft to the tissue.”

Meyer-Haake aims to offer additional medical device innovations. The company is launching new versions of the radioSURG^® B (bipolar only) and PTA that will come with a guided human Interface. The latest versions will be launched in the summer of 2019. The new releases will be for all emergency rooms and for ENT doctors who want to stop bleedings without any surgical procedure. “We are trying to expand our sales- and marketing efforts which includes an upcoming trip to Korea and a large exhibition in China,” concludes Heike.
